Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When should we start taking lessons?

A: We recommend at least 2 months prior to your wedding date for maximum comfort on the dance floor. However, couples have come to us for 1-3 hours right before the big day and we’ve worked with the time efficiently and effectively!

Q: How many lessons do I really need?

A: Again, that depends on you both, your willingness to practice, and how comfortable you want to look and feel during your dance. Most of my "regular" couples take 3-5 lessons. Couples doing "unusual first dances" take ten+ lessons.

Q: What kind of music should I use?

A: Use music that means something to you both. We will work with whatever you bring in to us. Your song is your special expression of your love for each other and we are here to help you create a dance that fits your personalities and your song.

Q: My fiancé/fiancée "doesn’t dance", can we actually move together like this?

A: Absolutely! Often we find it is the partner that “wasn’t so sure” that turns out to be really into the lessons. We will teach you romantic and easy-to-learn steps in a relaxed, one-on-one fashion that will be fun for you both.

Q: Are there benefits to private lessons?

A: Private instruction offers you individualized teaching geared to your specific needs and abilities and in your time frame and on your schedule.

Q: What about the dance with my Dad, Mom, Father-in-law or Mother-in-law?

A: We’ve taught lots and lots of father daughter dances and mom son dances. Everyone will probably dance with everyone else at the wedding so it's a good idea to get moms and dads in for even one lesson to make them feel confident and comfortable on the dance floor. Bring in the whole wedding party – you’ll be surprised at how much everyone loves to dance!

Make your first dance as husband and wife as special as everything else on your wedding day!
